At Grace Baptist Church Wood Green, we are committed to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to our community, nation, and the world.
We believe that the message of hope and salvation is meant to be shared with everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Because God is just, he had to administrate justice and punish sin. Because God is love, he desired to forgive repentant sinners. So the Father gave his Son in the person and work of Jesus Christ, who while we were still sinners died for us to satisfy God’s wrath and to reveal His perfect love in purchasing salvation for everyone who believes on Him.
We are a Baptist church. Historic Baptist identity has been summarised in the words “faith”, “baptism”, “fellowship”, “freedom”, and “evangelism.” We seek to hold personal responsibility and divine sovereignty in balance and emphasise that salvation is received by grace through faith in Christ.
We meet together in Wood Green, North London, and are committed to proclaiming the saving good news of Jesus Christ to the people in our local area, whoever they are, wherever they are from, and whatever their background or current beliefs.

Grace Baptist Church Wood Green is located in the densely populated and culturally diverse urban town centre of Wood Green, in the London Borough of Haringey. We are dedicated to proclaiming the good news and practicing the goodness of Jesus locally, nationally and globally.
Our vision as a church is three-fold:
We are committed to growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
(2 Peter 3:18)
Our mission is to faithfully preach the gospel to all so that all people will trust in Christ and trust in Him.
(Matthew 28:18-20)
We come from many places, but our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Philippians 3:20)
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.
We believe in the one true and living God, in three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, who is invisible, personal, omnipresent, eternal, dependent on none, unchanging, truthful, trustworthy, almighty, sovereign, omniscient, righteous, holy, good, loving, merciful, long-suffering and gracious and the Creator of all things.
We believe that Almighty God in His great goodness has revealed all that is necessary to life and salvation in the sixty-six books of Holy Scripture which are the Word of God. All Scripture was given by inspiration of God, is infallible and inerrant, and is sufficient in all matters of faith and practice. Its authority is derived from its Author and not from the opinions of men.
We believe that God made our first father Adam perfect, holy and upright. He was appointed representative and head of the human race thereby exposing all his offspring to the effects of his obedience and disobedience to God’s commands.
We believe that Adam fell from his original righteousness into sin and brought upon himself and all his offspring death, condemnation and sinful nature.
We believe it is utterly beyond the power of fallen man to know God, to love Him, to keep His laws, to believe the Gospel, to repent of sin or trust in Christ.
We believe that God, before the foundation of the world, for His own glory did elect an innumerable host of men and women to eternal life as an act of free and sovereign grace. This election was in no way dependent upon His foresight of human faith, decision, works or merit.
We believe that God so loved lost sinners that He sent His Son into the world, conceived of the virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit, unchangeably sinless, both God and man, born under the Law to live a perfect life.
We believe that God’s Son died at Calvary to effect propitiation, reconciliation, redemption and atonement for His elect people. God bore testimony to His acceptance of His Son’s work by raising Him from the dead for our justification.
We believe that God’s Son ascended to the right hand of His Father and is enthroned in glory, where He intercedes on behalf of His people and rules over all things for their sake.
We believe that the Holy Spirit has been sent from heaven to glorify Christ and to apply His work of salvation. By the mystery of His all-powerful work those dead in sin are brought into spiritual life. They hear the call of God through His Word and are given the desire and ability to repent of sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. The Holy Spirit indwells all believers, brings assurance of salvation and produces increasing likeness to Christ. He builds up the Church and empowers its members for worship, service and mission.
We believe the elect, who are called by grace, are justified in the sight of God on account of the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ which is received by faith alone.
We believe that such as are regenerated, called and justified shall persevere in holiness and enter into the joys of heaven.
We believe in the necessity of baptism by immersion, on a profession of repentance and faith in order to enter into Church membership. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a privilege of Church membership to be administered under the discipline of the local Church.
We believe that the local Church is under the authority of Christ alone. The unity of the body of Christ is expressed within and between churches by mutual love, care and encouragement. True fellowship between churches exists only where they are faithful to the Gospel.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ shall come again to judge all people, to raise the dead, both righteous and unrighteous, and that the righteous shall be glorified and enjoy everlasting life and the wicked endure everlasting punishment.
We believe in Church-based mission – that it is the responsibility and privilege of the local Church to be obedient to Christ’s Commission to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all mankind, seeking to disciple and baptise believers, establishing them into local churches.
Fuller development of the above doctrines that we believe and teach may be found in the
historic confessional statements of the Particular Baptist confessional tradition, which
would include the First London Baptist Confession 1644, the Second London Baptist
Confession 1689, the Philadelphia (1742) and New Hampshire (1833) Confessions, the
Baptist Affirmation of Faith 1966, and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
We get it. Visiting a new church is a big step. Let us take a shot at answering any questions you might have before you come to join us. Have a question that isn’t answered below?
Don’t hesitate to drop us a line.
Doors open at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and we enjoy coffees and teas while munching on various snacks church members bring.
Our worship services are at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. We have a morning and an afternoon worship service every Sunday, unless otherwise announced. The basic idea and general structure of the meetings may (or may not!) be the same, but when it comes to specific details these are different services. In other words, the evening is not just a meeting for people who couldn’t come to the morning service! In a world that is sometimes far too complex and busy, we keep things pretty simple. We aren’t bound to a particular order of service or schedule, but in a typical Sunday morning service we sing, pray, give, read and explain the Bible, and enjoy each other’s company afterwards over refreshments. On the first Sunday night of each month we give a missions offering and share the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.
On Thursday nights, we have a prayer meeting at 7:00 p.m. This generally involves a Bible study about a practical aspect of Christian living and is followed by a time of prayer focused on that subject.
Once a month, on the first Monday of the month, we host the Grace Baptist Partnership United Prayer Meeting for Revival at 7:00 p.m. This is held on Zoom.
Generally, our meetings last from an hour to an hour and a half depending on the occasion.
We don’t push anyone aside or leave anyone behind; worship is for kids as much as anyone else! Children of all ages are welcome to our meetings. Should the content of a particular message be “mature” in nature, it will be announced in advance so parents can decide whether or not it is something they wish for their children to hear. We have an age appropriate ministry for children and teenagers that occurs during the week every 2 weeks. Please contact us for more information.
Clothes please! But seriously… Do you like ties? Wear one. Prefer a hoody? Fine by us. Dress, trousers, or jeans? That’s your decision. Truth is, we’re pretty easy going when it comes to what you wear, because the Bible is. The principle is modesty: don’t wear too little but don’t over-do it either!
If you have one, yes. We take the Bible very seriously at Grace Baptist Church and our meetings focus on teaching what the Bible says, explaining what the Bible means, and applying what the Bible says and what it means to your life. If you don’t have a Bible, we have one that you can use.
For the bus, you can take any bus that stops in front of The Mall. Once you get off, take a 5 minute walk towards Alexandra Road, which is alongside Boots, and take the first right onto Martins Walk.
There are a couple of options including Mayes Road, Alexandra Road or the Mall Car Park. The best options are on Brook Road beside Iceland, which is free on Sunday’s and after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. From there it’s a 5 minute walk. You can also use the Morrison’s Car Park off Caxton Road, which is free for 2 hours, and from there it’s a 10 minute walk to the church.
