What's a Church?

A "church" according to the Bible, is not a building, it is group of people who have come to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. The first Christians met in one another's homes and anywhere else that was convenient. Spiritual worship should not depend upon our surroundings, but upon our relationship with God.

We invite any and all to join with us in worship each Sunday at 11 a.m.in the Scout & Guide HQ Hall, Sawmills Lane, off Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester (near TESCO's). The form of worship is simple. We sit for prayer that is led by the Minister or Elder. We stand to sing hymns or spiritual songs. We sit to hear the Word of God preached. Just like Jesus, we wear no robes and do not stand on ceremony!

We believe in the "priesthood of all believers". We do not believe in a special group of men (or women) who are "priests". We believe that some men are called to preach the Gospel and to be ministers and teachers of the Word of God and these, together with Elders and Deacons are set apart for this ministry by each local church.

What's New

The Grace Baptist Church meeting now in Dorchester is still a new Church, which covenanted together as a church at Cerne Abbas in May 2001.
It is just a group of ordinary people, who believe the Bible and have found in Jesus Christ a real friend - someone who gives us peace with God, strength for daily living and hope for the future.
Jesus said "
Behold, I make all things new!" That is our experience.
