Baptist History

Independent
We are a truly independent church, as were all the churches of the New Testament. We are not affiliated with any man-made external organization be it a Denomination, Convention, Association, Fellowship or Missionary Organisation. Our only Head is the Lord Jesus Christ and our only headquarters is in heaven.
We fellowship and work with all churches that hold to the same New Testament faith and practice, and support evangelists and missionaries sent forth by the authority of such churches.

Fundamental
We affirm without apology the doctrines frequently identified as the “Fundamentals of the Faith,” which include the deity, virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and the coming again of Jesus Christ. We reject, however, the prevalent concept that other doctrines clearly taught in God’s Word are “non-essentials.”

Gospel of Grace
We believe the main task of a church is the proclamation of the Gospel - i.e. 'the Good news of salvation' which is by
grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. True Christians are those who are "born again of the Spirit of God" and justified (accounted righteous in God's sight) by faith alone.

Sovereign Grace
We uphold and teach those bible doctrines known as "the Doctrines of Grace". We believe that God loved his elect with an everlasting love and that they are redeemed, quickened (made alive spiritually), and saved, not of themselves, nor through their own good works, but only and wholly by God, of His own free grace and mercy. We believe that God will unfailingly call His elect unto Himself and bring them to saving faith in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that we are responsible to do our part in ensuring that the gospel is carried throughout the world and that we have a special responsibilty to make the Gospel known to all in our neighbourhood. We are opposed to cheap or high pressure methods of evangelism, and to the preaching of easy-believism, which neglects the essential of Biblical repentance. We believe that it is impossible for one to accept Christ as Saviour while rejecting Him as Lord.

Separated
We believe that Christians should bring forth the fruits of salvation in their lives and that their relationships with Christ should affect every aspect of the way they live. Christians should seek to separate themselves from worldliness and evil of every sort. We also believe it important to witness to the truth of the Gospel and to the one way of salvation which the true Gospel proclaims. We should therefore separate from those "so-called-churches" which have fallen away from the teaching of the Bible into a made-made form of "religion".
(2 Corinthians 6:17)

Baptist
Although we prefer the simple name of "Christians", we are not ashamed to be called "Baptists". This is because we believe that the Bible clearly shows that all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are commanded by Him to be baptised - that is to say - to be IMMERSED in water - in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Children, even of believers, are NOT to be baptised unless and until they come to faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
(Sprinkling is not baptism - baptism is a burial. Romans 6:4 Colossians 2:12)

Historical
Only Scriptural Baptist churches can make a legitimate claim to an unbroken succession back to the time of Christ and the apostles. Christ only built one kind of church and that church is described in detail in the New Testament. The only churches fully meeting the requirements of that description today are those who are obedient to the Lord's command to preach the Gospel and to baptise believers. Baptist churches have existed in every age since the beginning, as recorded in the Acts of the apostles, though they have not always been known by that name.
We do not deny that there are Christians in other so-called “churches” that have been born again by the grace of God. We do deny, however, that these man-made denominations or organisations are true churches of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible
We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. We believe that God has preserved His very words in the transmission of
the Bible which is the written Word of God. All our teaching and practice is based wholly on the teaching of the Bible and is not based upon the traditions and ceremonies, however old, that have crept into the worship, practice and forms of government, of apostate "churches" (i.e. churches that have fallen away from the truth.)

Worship
When we meet for worship we seek the guidance and help of the Holy Spirit. We do not use "set forms" of prayer. The worship consists of "psalms and hymns and spiritual songs" - prayers being made as we are led. The worship centres on the preaching of the Word of God. We also meet together for "the breaking of bread and the sharing of the cup, having given thanks" as Jesus commanded, in remembrance of Him - until He comes again.

Evangelical
We are an evangelical church. That is to say we are a church that believes and preaches the 'evangel' - the Gospel. We see the work of evangelism - the proclamation of the Good News of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as a primary task.

A Simple Faith
Basically ours is simply a fellowship of those who believe in the Bible and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of all their sins and for the free gift of eternal life in Him.

Christianity for us is NOT a religion, it is a relationship - a relationship with
God in Jesus Christ by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.
You will be most welcome to come as a visitor to our public (open) meetings and hear the Word of God.

Matthew's Gospel Chapter 28 verses 18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have comma
nded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
